Broken Vessel Spiritual Direction

The spiritual journey is not a solitary journey. We are meant to share the journey with others. Or, as legendary Be Here Now author Ram Dass said, “We are all just walking each other home.”

The spiritual journey is also not necessarily a religious journey. Some find their spiritual home through religion. Others find their spiritual home through other kinds of communities, other kinds of beliefs and other kinds of practices.

My calling, as a spiritual director, is to “walk you home,” to be a companion or a guide or an accountability partner on your spiritual journey. What that looks like is different for everyone. It may mean:

  • helping you find the spiritual practices that are most meaningful to you, including but not limited to one of the many forms of prayer or meditation;
  • encouraging an ever deeper spiritual exploration;
  • exploring how to incorporate spiritual principles into every area of your life, from relationships to work to the ways you express your gifts and talents;
  • providing a sounding board for your doubts, fears and struggles around faith, beliefs or life purpose;
  • finding the pathway to a life of the spirit even in the absence of religion or traditional beliefs.

The process of spiritual direction is as unique as you are. There is no formula. There is no right way or wrong way to create a meaningful and authentic spiritual life. The purpose of Broken Vessel Spiritual Direction is help you open doors, clear pathways, light the way.

Why do I call it Broken Vessel Spiritual Direction? Because I believe that we are best equipped to be compassionate and wise spiritual companions when we have struggled through our own brokenness. Spiritual growth is not reaching perfection; it is accepting ourselves as perfectly human — flawed, but bearing the seeds of creativity and holiness.
